Mission Statement
The Congregation of the Truelight Baptist Church resolves to win souls to the Church through the practice, teaching, and preaching of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ.
The Purpose
This institution’s purpose is to teach and promote moral, ethical and religious values, as reflected in the Holy Bible.
- Leading souls to everlasting Life in Christ through the hearing (and teaching) of the word of God. (Jeremiah 18:2 - Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.)
- Encouraging all people (young and old) called of God into Christian service. (Romans 12:1 – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
- Building up the spiritual life of its members through Fellowship, Prayer (mindful of the needs of our brethren), the breaking of bread (Communion), and the study of Holy Scriptures. (Acts 2:42 - And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.)
- To help each member and future member(s) understand their individual purpose in God’s family. (Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
- To help us see the vision God has for us at Truelight Baptist Church as we grow and serve the Lord and mankind. (Habakkuk 2:2 - And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.)
About the Pastor
Pastor Chambers
Pastor Timothy J. Chambers, Sr., is an astute intellectual, a published columnist, prolific orator, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. No matter your point of reference, there are few places you will travel where your soulful emotions will be moved to tears and laughter in the same setting while feasting on the word of God as delivered by our beloved Pastor.
Pastor Chambers is the exciting, gifted and anointed Pastor / Teacher of Truelight Baptist Church TBC in East St. Louis Illinois. In October of 2011, he assumed the pastoral mantle at TBC thus becoming only the third pastor to be installed in the 105 year of this Historic Christian institution.
Under his leadership and direction, TBC has seen tremendous growth and an implementation of innovative ministries such as, Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Ministry, the annual Homecoming weekend, The revitalization of the Male Chorus, Monthly Movie Night, Text Tuesdays, Walk and Talk with the Pastor, GEMS (Gracefully Embracing Ministry through Service) Women’s Ministry, TNT (Thursday Night at Truelight Youth Ministry Program) and the popular Happy Hour Bible Study just to name a few.
Pastor Chambers is passionate about reaching all generations including our youth, our seniors and everyone in between. He preaches and teaches in a way which promotes spiritual, social and intellectual growth for all generations.
Pastor Chambers is hard at work expanding the ministry beyond the walls of TBC and is embracing technology to reach souls in a global way. Bible Study and select services are in the process of being streamed via the church website and pod cast.
Pastor Chambers is a devout family man who is supported by his lovely wife Danielle, a loving son Timothy Jr. and their daughter little Landri Nicole. In his spare time Pastor Chambers is an avid cook who enjoys reading, writing, working out and riding his motorcycle.
Message from the Pastor
Welcome!
We are grateful to God that for over 105 years, this institution has stood as a beacon of light in this community. It is here at Truelight, that generations of Christians have come to know the LORD and grow in faith together. It is here at Truelight that we have encountered and still encounter the living CHRIST. It is here at Truelight that we continue to fight a good fight, that we stay the course and keep the faith.
We do not marginalize all that the LORD has done through this beacon of hope that we call Truelight. It is by no coincidence that we have endured over 105 years as I am convinced that GOD looked down through the expanse of time and forerordained our spiritual ancestors to build and sustain Truelight with Christ-like dignity.
As with everything, time brings change but I am of the belief that CHRIST is the same yesterday today and forever. That same GOD who stands at the threshold of eternity is still blessing, still nurturing and still growing Truelight.
I am humbled to serve as Pastor of Truelight Baptist Church.
